The CRE established the Race in the Media Awards (RIMA) in 1992 to encourage informed coverage of race relations across all media in the United Kingdom. Winners will be those who have made a significant contribution to public appreciation and understanding of multiculturalism, diversity or race relations.

These prestigious awards attract entries from across the media industry, from major broadcasters and national newspapers to small independent television and radio companies, and specialist magazines. They also recognise the work of the advertising industry and the skills of those working on-line.
